About Me
I’m Jackie Burke, a lifelong pet owner and certified Pet First Aid & CPR instructor. Having cared for pets through illnesses and injuries my whole life, I know firsthand how scary emergencies can be. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching pet parents and animal lovers the skills they need to act quickly and confidently when every second counts.
My goal is to empower you with practical, easy-to-learn techniques so you can be your pet’s hero in an emergency — because our furry family members deserve the best care possible.
Meet My Boys
My heart belongs to my six amazing furry companions, Dusty, Sammy, Benny, Frankie, Louie and Archie. They inspire everything I do—from learning lifesaving pet first aid skills to teaching others how to protect their pets.
Over the years, my crew has faced all kinds of adventures, accidents, illnesses, and surprises — the kind that leave you wishing you knew exactly what to do in the moment. That’s what led me to become certified in pet CPR and first aid. I didn’t want to feel helpless again, and I realized so many other pet parents felt the same way.
Now, I’m passionate about giving others the confidence and knowledge to stay calm, act fast, and potentially save a life. Whether you’re a pet parent, sitter, or work with animals professionally, I’m here to help you feel empowered — not overwhelmed — in the moments that matter most.
I’m grateful to walk this journey with my animal family and honored to support yours, too.
Hi, I’m Dusty aka “Mr. Good Boy”! I’m a total lovebug and a professional cuddler. My favorite place to sleep is my mommy’s face. My favorite thing to do is going out on the patio, even when it’s cold outside. My mom says I need to lose some weight but I just love to eat! I’m sweet, loyal, and a little stubborn — but always a good boy.
My name is Sammy, and I’m Dusty’s brother — but I like to think I’m the brains of the operation. My mom says I’m the smartest one in the family, and I’m pretty sure she’s right. I even know how to do high fives! My curiosity has often gotten me into trouble. I’m sweet, sharp, and just a little bit sneaky — in the best way possible.
I’m Benny and I’m the little troublemaker of the family! I have so much energy, not even medicine can knock me out. When I’m not running around, I’m probably eating or napping at the window. I don’t like hot weather, and I really don’t like being told to slow down. My favorite toy is a guitar string.
My name is Louie and my mom says that I’m the boss. I have black and pink lips, and I’m a very unique boy in general. I’m a bit mysterious and like to do my own thing, but when I’m in the mood, I’m all about the cuddles. I love chasing my brother Frankie and keeping things lively around here.
Hi, I’m Frankie — Louie’s playful little brother, but I’m definitely my mom’s biggest fan. I’m absolutely obsessed with cuddles and love giving nose kisses whenever I can. When I’m not demanding snuggles on the couch, I’m charging into play mode with my signature war cry and flying leaps. I’ve got a big heart, a wild streak, and a serious love for my humans.
Hi, I’m Archie — the newest member of the family with a big personality. I literally walked right into our backyard, meowing loudly because I was starving. When I first arrived, I didn’t even know what toys were or how to use a cat tree, but now I absolutely love play sessions and climbing high! After a busy day of fun and mischief, my favorite thing is snuggling up close with my humans.
FAQs
Do I need prior experience to take a pet first aid or CPR class?
No experience is necessary! All of my classes are designed for beginners and pet parents of all skill levels. I’ll guide you step-by-step through the essential techniques.
What kinds of pets does the training cover?
My courses primarily focus on dogs and cats, covering common emergencies and first aid techniques for both species.
Will I receive a certification after the class?
Full certification classes (about 5 hours) provide a certification valid for two years. Shorter workshops are non-certification and focus on basic skills and emergency preparedness.
Can I bring my pet to the class?
For safety and focus, pets are generally not allowed during training sessions. However, I incorporate plenty of hands-on practice with mannequins and simulated scenarios.
